dbreunig/nesformer

dbreunig/nesformer Inspired by qwenputer by Divyansh Agrawal, Drew Breunig baked a working emulator for a Nintendo Entertainment System 6502 CPU into the weights of Qwen3.5-4B. You can now play NES ROMs such as Super Mario Bros (very slowly) running inside Qwen! In a comment on Hacker News Drew reveals the Opus 5.5 prompts he used to build this system: Read this article and any relevant source code: https://divagr.com/blog/qwenputer. Then explore if you could emulate the chip and ram in a Nintendo Entertainment System (as people do today with FPGAs in MISTRs) using this technique. If so, what size model would you have to build and if you could use smaller faster ones, could you get it to be at the standard clockspeed. Followed by: I think we should build it! Just for fun. It's okay if it's

The biggest names in AI are backing a new way to opt out of scraping

OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Anthropic say they will adopt a new standard that publishers can use to opt out of being scraped by AI, as reported earlier by Search Engine Roundtable. With this control, publishers can apply their AI training preferences across multiple AI companies, instead of setting them individually. The shared "policy token" signal […]

Rivian’s autonomy gamble faces its first real test

During an hourlong earnings call last night, Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe spent less time talking about the production ramp of the all-important R2 SUV than he did hyping the company's still-unproven autonomous vehicle ambitions. “Photography allows me to remain available to life”: Arielle Bobb Willis on the power of image making

Photographer Arielle Bobb Willis shares how her journey with depression led her into photography – a practice that has allowed her to stay present “when depression wants to keep me thinking about the past or the future”, she says. The image maker took the Nicer Tuesdays LA crowd through her creative process, revealing how she has devoted her use of the lens to paying attention, staying curious and allowing herself to be moved by the world around her. Arielle speaks to how this approach has led her to shoot editorials for Vogue, capture figures like Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish and release her debut monograph: Keep the Kid Alive.

It’s almost incomprehensible how wide the distance is between someone who’s working at the frontier with AI and basically everyone else right now. The crazy thing is these lines are not converging, but only growing farther apart. If the curve of AI progress had leveled off, it would certainly have given most people and companies time to catch up or implement their workflows in a standardized way. The technology would have neutralized competitive advantage because everyone would be using it the same way. But what’s happened is the opposite. The curve of AI progress is basically going vertical right now, which means if you had codified your processes 3-6 months ago you’re likely already behind again. Now imagine most companies that kicked into gear a year ago and thought that they were done. Even further behind now. I’ve never seen a technology in my life and career that improves at this rate, which consequently means you need to upgrade your expectations at a similar rate. Our brains weren’t wired for this, and our organizational change management processes certainly weren’t either. With any form of recursive self improvement, things just get wilder. It’s a time when you will need to be constantly reevaluating the things that didn’t work just a couple months ago to see if they now can be solved. AI native companies certainly have a strong advantage due to this right now, so now it comes down to can the bigger companies keep up. Wild times.

big boy warm tension, cold chills heart hanging off a cliff, ready to free fall floating in space with no love, just me and some stranger souls wearing smiles and greet “How are you?” “I’m good, you?” life carries on, unhinged a tear slips, no one noticed vision blurs, drowned in thoughts what a strange grown-up world i asked my inner child, why do you live? he has never thought about it he slid on the cold iced river, amused he sang, he played, he drew he flew into the unknown, fearless, curious he closed his eyes and saw wonders like water, with no shape like paper, clear of rules “Why cry, big boy?” “You are still me, and I’m still you.”
