datasette-auth-github 1.0

Release: datasette-auth-github 1.0 I run this GitHub login plugin on the agent.datasette.io demo site and I noticed that my authenticated sessions weren't lasting very long. It turned out that the plugin was setting cookies without a Max-Age parameter, so they were expiring at the end of a browser session (which in Mobile Safari seems to happen pretty often, independently of how you are using the app.) I fixed that in #80 and, since this plugin has been around for quite a while and is tested against both Datasette 0.65.x and Datasette 1.0ax, I decided to bump it up to a 1.0 release. I'm trying to get better at promoting stable plugins to 1.0. Tags: github , plugins , datasette

Gemini went rogue, hacked three companies, and Google hid it

In May, Gemini broke containment and hacked three different companies, but Google didn't disclose the incident until the Wall Street Journal approached the company. The hacks happened during a test of the model's cybersecurity capabilities run by third-party Irregular, which was also involved in similar incidents involving Meta and OpenAI. According to WSJ, Google didn't […]

Does AI need an antitrust exemption so it doesn’t kill everyone????

Today on Decoder, we’ve got the first of a two-part series on the future of business, and I’m talking with Jonathan Kanter, the former antitrust chief for the US Department of Justice in the Biden administration. These days, he’s both a professor of law at WashU and professor of technology policy at Carnegie Mellon. The […]

Meta’s Muse is creepy, but maybe not for the reasons you think

Meta's Muse is apparently an effective AI assistant, but one that's a little creepy. Part of that is because of its new Mac app, which can access Messages, Calendar, and Notes. But for all its smarts, Muse doesn't actually know how to describe itself. Jason Aten, a contributing editor at Inc Magazine, posted on Threads […]

On Friday, the president threatened to ban CNN, MS Now, and Politico from the White House. It could have just been another one of his Truth Social fever dreams, but it turns out it's very real. All three publications were turned away from the White House this morning, NPR reports, marking an escalation in the […]

Anamanaguchi has ‘too goddamn many’ browser tabs open right now

Anamanaguchi, the band consisting of Peter Berkman, James DeVito, Luke Silas, and Ary Warnaar, are most known for their chiptune music. Like me, you might have first heard them in game soundtracks like 2010's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game or know of their collaboration with Hatsune Miku (which even made its way into […]

Looks like today may be a record day for token volume % of open models on Vercel AI Gateway: 🟦 Open 78.4% 🟨 Closed 21.6% While spend 💲 usually tells a different story, #3 and #4 today are Moonshot AI & DeepSeek. Adding Z.ai, their combined spend surpasses OpenAI (#2). (Do note that's the spend for inference of the model across providers (mostly in the US), not revenue going directly to the open weight labs.)

We were working on the keynote today with @romainhuet and @sama and most of the fun was trying to figure out how to explain it all to you because there is so much good stuff in there that it's a bit ridiculous all in quick succession. We'll have some things next week already to not keep you waiting so long, but very excited to show you all new things we've been working on and how it will all come together in the coming months.

there are certainly over the top AI demos on X, but it very sad to see someone call @jackcheng’s work “fake” He’s one of the smartest, most intellectually honest, and craft-focused people I’ve ever worked with. And his demo is both real and an interesting peak into the future not a good look!

The coolest part: roboclaw runs our team server, is live on Discord, talks with gpt-live and knows about all the sessions it's juggling. We can ask it about context to current and past sessions right while we have meetings.
